A champion who became a boss
Alireza Dabir; a former wrestler is now a sporting director. He is an Olympic gold medalist (Sidney 2000) and a world champion (Tehran 1998). He reached the final at the Olympics and the world wrestling championships five times in the weight classes of 58 kg, 63 kg and 66 kg, in which he took home two gold medals and three silver ones. Since his shoulder was injured in the 2002 Asian Games, he was not successful at the Athens Olympics. After that he said goodbye and walked away from the ring forever.
In 2019, Alireza returned to the world of sports after 15 years and won the election of the Wrestling Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Upon entering the federation, he started to rebuild and improve the infrastructures which led him to face many issues within this period; such as COVID-19, physical damages from championships which resulted in leg and kidney surgeries. But even these issues didn’t stop him from working and making progress.
He is an exemplary world and Olympic champion due to his high intelligence and promptitude in turning his thoughts into reality. In confrontation with management issues and problems during his presidency at the federation he follows the same successful strategy as he had on his matches.
In his strategy, Alireza first thinks then attacks, just like the old champion days in national, world and Olympic competitions. His intelligence and experience are the two main factors which help him to identify his strengths in order to overcome today’s management issues.
